Jamaica - Day 4

Hi everyone! I slept in today, so all you're getting is photos! Our booze cruise had to be postponed because it rained pretty hard for a few hours yesterday afternoon, so we're going today! We made the best of the storm and used that opportunity to test all of the drinks at the bar. Which coincidentally, explains why I slept in! Hope you're all having a great week!!

Jamaica - Day 3

Hi all! We had another fun-filled day yesterday! We got another big breakfast where they serve whole coconuts with a straw in them so you can drink the water. Fresh as it gets! I snagged one at breakfast, but I snuck it back to the room and kept it in my fridge til the afternoon. Then I took it out to the bartender and had him add some coconut rum to it! Good stuff! After breakfast we went paddle boarding, which was so fun! I loved it! I thought it was going to be hard, and it was a little tricky at first, but it really wasn't bad! While we were waiting for the rain to quit, we watched a cooking demonstration. They deep fried fresh pieces of pineapple breaded with some funnel cake-ish batter and then rolled in sugar and cinnamon. I liked it a lot!

It rained a little off and on in the afternoon, but it was very spotty, and when it rains here, the sun comes right back out!

We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant called Lychee. It's Asian-themed and the food was wonderful!

Today was the day we had scheduled the bus bar crawl, but earlier in the week, John at the sports hut convinced us that we need to do the bar crawl by boat. So we have a bar crawl by boat scheduled for this afternoon. I'm pretty excited about it! It will just be me & Chris, so we'll get to dictate the schedule and stops, etc. Plus they stock the boat with booze and snack plates, so I think it's gonna be right up my alley!

We got to FaceTime with mom last night. Well, we sort of did. She could hear us, but the wifi was a little spotty so we couldn't hear her. But we got to see our sweet little brown pup who we miss so much!!! Hope you all have a great Wednesday!!

Jamaica - Day 2

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a great Labor Day! We definitely did! Yesterday was a lazy day. We started the day with a huge breakfast. I'm eating so much here. The food is amazing and there are all these buffets with tons of options. The fat girl in me has been freed and I don't know if I'll ever be able to reel her back in. I have to try everything. I'm starting to worry that when I get home, the only item of clothing I'll be able to wear is my bathrobe. And at the rate we're eating, even that is a long shot.

So after breakfast, we walked over to the next restaurant for lunch. Kidding. We sat on the beach for, like an hour, first. Y'all, the beach here is so beautiful. The water was perfectly turquoise, and the perfect temperature. I loved it. And there are all of these vendors walking up and down the beach trying to sell you knick-knacks! Apparently there is an invisible line that they're not allowed to cross and they know it, so they'll stand at the edge and yell up to you things like "how you doing mon, need some jewelry for the lady?" And we smiled and yelled back "no thanks" politely and he moved on. Until the guy with the Jamaican flags came by. And I tried to convince Chris that we needed it for our front yard. After that Chris told me to pretend like I was asleep when they walked by. He didn't want any flags, jewelry, wood carvings, conch shells, or weed. No fun. And note, if you want to get high, the beach vendors of Negril are here to help. No matter what they're selling, they're also selling weed. And the code word for it is "do you like to party?" I learned that the hard way the last time we were here. It really is mis-leading because who doesn't like a good party? The security guards were on the vendors like white on rice if they tried to come over the line. Made for great entertainment! Except when I was "fake-asleep."

At lunchtime it started to sprinkle a bit, so we headed to the trough. Lunch was so great. They had a buffet set up with a mento band for entertainment. And by the time we were through the rain had quit so we spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool bar.

Last night was the repeaters dinner, which we didn't try on our last trip, so we decided to give it a shot this time. It's only for repeat guests and it's hosted by the different managers. One manager sits at each table, so we sat with Esther, the gift shop manager. She was so nice and introduced me to hot pepper sauce. And I don't mean hot pepper sauce like the green stuff at a Mexican restaurant. I mean hotter-than-all-living-hell hot pepper sauce. It's scotch bonnet peppers cut up and soaked in oil. Then you scoop up the oil and dip bread in it. Good, but it lit me up. My lips burned all through dinner.

After dinner, they had a show. I wasn't  exactly clear on the theme of the show, but it was something with African chants and drums and dancing. Parts were hilarious. I took some great pics and videos, but not on the iPhone, so you'll all just have to wait in suspense til I get back.

And then we ended the night at the beach bonfire with the chocolate fountain. I was actually too full to try the chocolate fountain, but Chris gave it a thumbs up. There was also a guy playing songs on a guitar. It was so nice and relaxing. A great end to a great Labor Day!

And now I've just noticed that we have finished breakfast - round one (coffee and pastries they brought to our room) so it's time to get suited up for breakfast - round two (buffet). Hope you are all enjoying your day back at work! Until tomorrow!!
